| | | NeXTSTEP 1.0 has been licensed to IBM, who ported it to AIX architecture. However, it took so long, that by the time the project was finished, NeXTSTEP 2.0 for NeXT hardware was ready. Since the company wanted more money for a new 2.0 license, and there was no obvious benefits, IBM lost interest in NeXTSTEP. |

| |  | This successor to consumer branch of Windows 2000 line brought many GUI changes, such as introduction of appearance theme manager and new Luna interface, task menus, bigger and more colourful icons, and sub-pixel font smoothing for LCD screens.

| |  | File selector dialogs in both System 1 and Windows 1.0 looked and behaved very primitively. In time, with thousandfold increase of number of files available to the user, file opening dialogs evolved into bigger and way more complicated features.
