Stabilus presented Industrial POWERISE®, a trade fair highlight, using two concepts for electrically adjustable folding tables to illustrate the ergonomic, space-saving, and advantages in comfort offered by electromechanical drives. These are versions, adapted for industrial use, of Automotive POWERISE®, proven millions of times over for decades, ensuring easy, reliable opening of tailgates and side doors in cars. The actuators can also be used to control movement in furniture automatically, precisely, and safely without additional effort. To illustrate this, two folding table exhibits were converted from gas springs to Industrial POWERISE®. While one table is equipped with an IPR35 actuator and an integrated locking system that prevents unintentional manual opening, the second features the new IPR40 drive. Compared to the IPR35, this model offers a more robust design, higher forces and more flexible mounting options, customized configurations even for smaller quantities, and integrated limit switches that make the drive usable without additional control. With both solutions, Stabilus demonstrates how current and future requirements for flexible interior design can be met more elegantly, conveniently, and with greater quality using electric drives. This is also a result of Industrial POWERISE® operating almost silently and very reliably, and the ability to be handled manually without damage even during power outages.

While retaining its identity, the Cultraro brand will increasingly appear as a Stabilus brand.

Many furniture designers and engineers have already discovered the world of endless possibilities for decelerating, braking, and damping with Cultraro. The spectrum ranges from elegant rotary dampers to precise axial and linear dampers to innovative push-push locking systems, which could be experienced live at Interzum. Whether soft-closing cabinets, push-button flaps, or delayed-action roller blinds and mosquito nets – Cultraro components give furniture and accessories a long-lasting, comfortable, and stylish function.

The closing of the transaction is expected in the first half of the calendar year 2024 and is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals and the finalization of certain local transactions.

The complementary acquisition is an important next step in the targeted implementation of Stabilus’ long-term strategy, STAR 2030, which, among other things envisages strengthening of the Industrial business unit and a target revenue split between the Automotive and Industrial business units of 50% each. With this transaction, Stabilus will significantly expand its Industrial Automation business.

Immediate positive impact on revenue and adjusted EBIT margin of the Stabilus Group
Stabilus expects the acquisition to result in a significant increase in revenues with an immediate positive impact on its adjusted EBIT margin after the completion of the transaction and full consolidation of DESTACO.

Stabilus has already completed various value-accretive acquisitions in recent years. In 2016, the Group acquired the industrial suppliers ACE, HAHN Gasfedern, Fabreeka and Tech Products from the SKF Group. This was followed in 2019 by the acquisition of General Aerospace, a supplier of motion control solutions for the aircraft industry, and CLEVERS and Piston, manufacturers of gas springs and dampers based in South America and Turkey, respectively. The guiding principle of the strategy, which was developed by the global management team, is the vision of the “global market leader in intelligent motion control technologies”. Group sales are planned to reach two billion euros at an EBIT margin of 15% by 2030 (2021: EUR 937.7 million). Hahn Gasfedern, a pioneer in gas spring technology, produces innovative gas pressure springs, gas tension springs, lockable gas springs, double-stroke gas springs and oil brakes for demanding industrial applications at its Aichwald site with 250 employees.

Stabilus acquired the company Hahn Gasfedern in 2016. Hahn Gasfedern, a company that has been growing successfully for many years, has since experienced an additional significant growth spurt. In order to meet the increasing demand for industrial gas springs (products in the Industrial/Capital Goods segment) in the future, Stabilus has acquired a property in the immediate vicinity of Hahn Gasfedern's headquarters. The property with a usable area of almost 3,500 square meters can be used from the beginning of 2019. The new production and administration space will provide Hahn Gasfedern with room to increase its production capacity by around 50 percent.
