'Stabilus4Automation' serves as the cornerstone of Stabilus Group's introduction of its bespoke synergistic offerings for the automation industry. Beginning June 2025, this unification of benefits will be unveiled for the first time at a series of major international expos, including Automatica in Munich, Germany, AMTS in Shanghai, China, among others. This synergy is achieved through the combination of premium components from the esteemed brands within the group—Stabilus, ACE, Destaco, Fabreeka, and Hahn Gasfedern. This collaboration results in a new echelon of superior automation solutions, conveniently offered through a single provider for both system integrators and end-users.

The first outcome of these synergies stems from the expertise and high-quality products of the ACE and Destaco expert brands, resulting in a collaborative solution developed by both companies. Destaco, recognized for its expertise in clamping and gripping technology, and ACE, specializing in damping solutions, have worked together to enhance an existing Destaco product - the DBG Series Bag Gripper. These grippers are highly adaptable, capable of handling both boxes and bags, as well as serving in a variety of other processes. Renowned for being among the fastest and most reliable solutions on the market, the DBG bag gripper series now benefits from the integration of ACE’s damping solutions. This collaboration signals the beginning of additional joint developments that Stabilus Group is actively pursuing, soon to be introduced to the automation industry. Customers stand to gain significantly, enjoying seamless solutions from a single source and reaping the rewards of newly created synergies through collaborative innovation.

DBG series bag grippers for high speed and reliable transfers

Destaco bag grippers are ideal for pick-and-place palletizing applications, efficiently handling and stacking boxes or bags. The DBG series features a lightweight, field-adjustable design, commonly used in the food industry for consumer goods packaging, as well as in various unique applications across other industries. Recognizing the importance of speed in these processes, Destaco grippers stand out for their rapid actuation, enabling reduced cycle times. When integrated with robotic automation systems, these grippers can palletize up to 30 boxes per minute.

To ensure safe transfers at high speeds, the DBG series incorporates an enclosed pneumatic toggle-lock power clamp with built-in opening and closing detection. This design securely holds boxes even in the event of air pressure loss, eliminating the need for heavier, more complex, and costly linkage-based systems.

Prioritizing user convenience and flexibility, the DBG series offers several options, including pallet pickup, interleaf transfer mechanisms, and either spring- or pneumatically-controlled retention systems. To further cater to diverse requirements, an assortment of valve and control packages is available, ensuring optimal performance tailored to specific applications.

Advantages from integrating ACE miniature shock absorbers

Destaco's automation experts, alongside damping specialists from ACE, have engineered a tailored handling solution, emerging as an exceptionally effective end-of-arm tool (EOAT). By incorporating MC series miniature shock absorbers from ACE into the EOAT design, they've achieved a solution that not only optimizes handling for items of various sizes and weights but also enhances protection for both the peripherals and the goods being transported. The self-adjusting dampers of the MC150 to MC600 family are known for their ability to dissipate maximum energy in the tightest of spaces. Thanks to rolling diaphragm technology, they have an extremely long service life.

This integration of gripping technology with superior damping mechanisms significantly alleviates stress on the equipment's structure, leading to shorter cycle times and improved durability. As a result, customers benefit from enhanced goods protection during every cycle, and system operators enjoy the advantages of longer-lasting grippers and peripherals, reduced maintenance, and improved overall energy efficiency. The use of finely tuned shock absorbers allows for the use of smaller pneumatic cylinders, which reduces both initial and ongoing operational costs associated with electricity and compressed air consumption.

Another advantage is the compact design of ACE's miniature shock absorbers, making them perfectly suited for retrofitting into existing setups. Ultimately, this ensures that customers can source all solutions, including replacements or enhancements, from a single provider, streamlining the process and guaranteeing an optimized, comprehensive handling solution.

Experience Stabilus4Automation live at international trade shows

Under the umbrella of the Stabilus Group, the complementary expertise of expert brands like Destaco and ACE brings numerous advantages. Destaco, a global leader in developing high-performance automation, workholding, and remote handling solutions, addresses key operational questions such as, "How can this box or bag be transported from A to B as quickly as possible, and how can it be securely gripped?" Meanwhile, ACE, a pioneering force in industrial damping technology since 1963 with a rich history in automation applications, enhances safety and efficiency. ACE's role involves providing engineering acumen and tailored product solutions to effectively handle concerns like, “How can I optimally decelerate and mitigate the forces at play here?”

This collaborative strategy, operating under the initiative ‘Stabilus4Automation’, synthesizes the capabilities of each company to produce a cohesive product that delivers substantial value to the customer. This synergy not only enhances individual product offerings but creates integrated solutions that elevate overall performance and customer satisfaction.

Premiere at Interzum: Cultraro, newest expert brand in the Stabilus Group

Cultraro, the Italian specialist for rotary dampers, was presented as an expert brand for the first time at Stabilus’ Interzum booth. Following a successful partnership and the gradual expansion of the stake, which reached an important milestone in 2023 with Stabilus acquiring a 60 percent stake, Cultraro now becomes the eighth expert brand in the Stabilus brand family. The collaboration will also be expanded in the areas of sales, research and development, and purchasing in order to transform the resulting synergies into greater customer benefits and further improved service. While retaining its identity, the Cultraro brand will increasingly appear as a Stabilus brand.

Many furniture designers and engineers have already discovered the world of endless possibilities for decelerating, braking, and damping with Cultraro. The spectrum ranges from elegant rotary dampers to precise axial and linear dampers to innovative push-push locking systems, which could be experienced live at Interzum. Whether soft-closing cabinets, push-button flaps, or delayed-action roller blinds and mosquito nets – Cultraro components give furniture and accessories a long-lasting, comfortable, and stylish function.

In addition to the expert brand Cultraro, Hahn Gasfedern and ACE Stoßdämpfer, part of the Stabilus Group, were also represented at the booth in Cologne. Hahn showcased prototypes of new mini gas springs in the size G4-12/FR for continuous opening and closing of wall cabinets for the first time. With secure holding, silent operation, and continuous adjustability, they set new standards in comfort and quality. Protecting all materials, this technology adds noticeably more value and safety to every piece of furniture. The innovation perfectly completes Hahn’s miniature series of gas springs and linear dampers for furniture flaps in sizes 4-12.

Complemented by gas springs and shock absorbers from ACE, which are available immediately from stock even in small quantities, Stabilus Group is now also a partner for all questions regarding motion control in the wood and furniture sector. Whether manual or electric, linear or rotating, Stabilus products bring controlled movement to a wide variety of applications. They adjust, dampen, and move with precision, thus providing noticeably greater comfort and safety in everyday life.

As a result, the versatility of the solutions from Stabilus' expert brands was impressively demonstrated during the trade fair: In numerous discussions, visitors gained fascinating insights into existing applications. At the same time, Stabilus presented pioneering innovations that set new standards, underlining that ideas become reality with products coming from Stabilus. They open up new possibilities for creative minds, for example in the design of multifunctional, space-saving furniture for urban living spaces. That way, solutions evolve that not only create space but also enrich life.

Stabilus Group: A sustainable future in the furniture sector

As part of this year's trade fair theme "Rethinking Resources", the topic of sustainability played a prominent role at the Stabilus booth. In addition to furniture industry specialists, sustainability experts were available daily, engaging in discussions with business partners about the current situation and future developments. Just as Stabilus is committed to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, it is also committed to working with partners from the furniture industry on goals such as clean water, responsible consumption and production, and climate protection.

With the new Regulation (EU) 2024/1781, the European Union is setting clear standards for sustainable product design. Furniture manufacturers will be required to meet minimum environmental demands in the future. Stabilus actively supports its business partners on this path. Through close collaboration, the group listens carefully, understands individual requirements, and offers targeted support in implementing the new specifications. The multitude of measures already implemented and those still planned underpins the goal of Stabilus to achieve top sustainability standards by 2030. In the coming years, the cooperation with the business partners will be continued in this direction.

Big Leap in Automotive Manufacturing: How Stabilus and Destaco Redefine Automation

Since April 2024, industrial automation leader Destaco has joined the Stabilus Group, enhancing a powerhouse of comprehensive solutions for the industrial sector. This union brings forth a suite of products and services from both entities, particularly augmenting the field of automation with Stabilus's expertise brands of ACE and Destaaco at the forefront.

Stabilus Group offers an outstanding product lineup, renowned for their industrial gas springs, shock absorbers, and air springs that adeptly control motion, regulate speeds, and decelerate loads with exquisite precision. Destaco, on the other hand, has carved its niche with unparalleled manual clamps, power clamps, robotic end-of-arm tools, grippers, and indexers for automation. The synergy between Destaco's gripping and clamping mastery with Stabilus Group’s motion control expertise spawns an unprecedented spectrum of innovative product offerings and advisory services from a single provider. This fusion not only heightens productivity for manufacturing entities but also fosters sustainable modernization and optimization for production lines through leading-edge technologies now under the Stabilus Group banner.

Synergies for future-oriented automation in the automotive industry

In the automotive industry, ACE's shock absorbers and Destaco's clamping and gripping components illustrate a perfect synergy within the manufacturing process. They ensure top-notch efficiency and quality, particularly during car body assembly, where precise automated welding and fastening of vehicle components are critical. Destaco's range of electrically or pneumatically operated clamps, grippers and sheet metal grippers holds parts in exact position, while ACE's industrial shock absorbers proficiently manage the kinetic energy of robot movements to guarantee precision in robot motion and welding points, cycle after cycle. Notably, ACE's adjustable and self-compensating shock absorbers diminish the transmission of unwarranted forces that could compromise weld quality, while Destaco’s pneumatic power clamps have the ability to adjust to different thicknesses of metals using its tolerance compensating capability. All of this results in less wear and tear inside and out to the robot, as well as enabling more uptime due to eliminating the need to adjust tolerances in clamping applications.

Enhancing Efficiency in "The Marriage" of Automobile Assembly

The "marriage" phase of automobile production, where the powertrain meets the body, also benefits from Stabilus and Destaco solutions. Varied positioning systems courtesy of Destaco, paired with ACE's industrial gas springs, perform flawlessly in aligning the engine and chassis, lightening workloads and preventing installation errors. Destaco’s conveyors and feed escapements to slides, indexers, rotaries and servo positioners all the way to the clutches for a wide variety of requirements and loads, Destaco’s solutions always ensure the precise placement of the engine in the chassis. ACE’s push and pull type Industrial gas springs, perform additional tasks that support or replace the muscle power of the operating personnel by facilitating the lowering of the engine into the engine compartment. This prevents damage or misalignment during installation.

Making Customers Champions of Competitiveness

The collaborative approach to integrating Destaco's clamping, gripping, and positioning systems with ACE's innovative motion and vibration control technologies ensures highly efficient, top-tier solutions across mechanical and plant engineering. Stabilus Group clients enjoy reduced rejection rates, fewer damages, and increased production consistency not only in the automotive sector but broader industrial automation processes. By providing a comprehensive and future-proof array of automated assembly line components from a single source, Stabilus Group sets a new standard for customer competitiveness.

Beyond ACE and Destaco, Stabilus Group's other expert brands like Hahn Gasfeder GmbH and Fabreeka bring additional top-quality gas springs and vibration isolation solutions. This ensemble enhances customizable, flexible service offerings tailored to distinct customer needs. Stabilus Group’s unified service delivery ensures a global presence for customers, supplemented by the convenience of dedicated, responsive sales contacts and a wealth of resources like online sizing tools, configuration software, application engineering, and customer support.

As Stabilus Group consolidates expertise across its brands, it emerges as an unrivaled force in industrial automation, promising clients innovative, high-quality, and individually customized services. This merger signifies more than just a pairing of products—it's a commitment to shaping the future of industrial automation, making clients more competitive and production processes more efficient, backed by a world-class support system that defines the essence of a truly integrated solution provider.

Experience automation expertise live

Customers and interested parties can now experience and put to the test the advantages of this integrated offering. Stabilus and expert brands such as ACE and Destaco are represented worldwide at 45 locations in 19 countries, both with their own sales organizations and through distributors. In the field of automation, Stabilus and Destaco will be represented at The Assembly Show, in Chicago, Illinois, USA, at FMB, the trade fair for mechanical engineering, in Bad Salzuflen, Germany, the China International Industry Fair in Shanghai, and the Precisiebeurs in 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands in the fall of 2024.

Stabilus SE signs agreement to acquire DESTACO to significantly expand industrial automation business

Stabilus SE signs agreement to acquire Destaco.

Koblenz, October 12, 2023 - Stabilus SE, one of the world's leading suppliers of motion control solutions for a wide range of industries, signed an agreement to acquire the business of DESTACO, which supplies industrial automation components, from Dover Corporation, a global diversified industrial manufacturer headquartered in the USA. The closing of the transaction is expected in the first half of the calendar year 2024 and is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals and the finalization of certain local transactions.

The complementary acquisition is an important next step in the targeted implementation of Stabilus’ long-term strategy, STAR 2030, which, among other things envisages strengthening of the Industrial business unit and a target revenue split between the Automotive and Industrial business units of 50% each. With this transaction, Stabilus will significantly expand its Industrial Automation business.

DESTACO achieved US$213 million in revenues in 2022
Founded in 1915, DESTACO is headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan, USA, and is one of the world's leading companies in the development and manufacture of automation, workholding and remote handling components and solutions. As such, the company's product portfolio is an excellent complement to Stabilus' offering in the industrial sector. DESTACO's core product offerings include clamping systems, gripping systems, linear positioning systems such as conveyors, rotary positioners, and robot tooling, such as robotic end effector gripping systems. As an industrial automation expert, DESTACO serves customers across the globe in a wide range of end markets. The company's products for equipping manufacturing areas and lines serve industries such as consumer products, packaging, aerospace, automotive, life sciences and nuclear. DESTACO became part of Dover Corporation in 1962.

In 2022, DESTACO generated revenues of US$213 million. DESTACO employs approximately 650 employees across 13 locations in the USA, Europe, India, China and Thailand. The workforce and the individual locations are fully included in the scope of the transaction and DESTACO will continue operating as an independent brand under the Stabilus umbrella.

Stabilus and DESTACO to jointly continue growth path to become a global leader in motion control solutions
Michael Büchsner, CEO of Stabilus, said: "DESTACO is a company with more than one hundred years of tradition and has a strong position in the growth market of industrial automation. This megatrend will be further strengthened by reshoring of production sites from emerging economies back to industrialized countries, especially because production processes need to be further automated due to the shortage of skilled workers. This is exactly where DESTACO's core competence lies: precisely gripping, fixing, placing, moving and repositioning workpieces in a production line. DESTACO products can help customers to significantly increase their productivity, which makes DESTACO products a perfect complement to our product range. We look forward to welcoming DESTACO under the Stabilus umbrella and to continuing our growth path together towards becoming a global leader in motion control solutions."

Immediate positive impact on revenue and adjusted EBIT margin of the Stabilus Group
Stabilus expects the acquisition to result in a significant increase in revenues with an immediate positive impact on its adjusted EBIT margin after the completion of the transaction and full consolidation of DESTACO.

Stefan Bauerreis, CFO of Stabilus, explained: "With the acquisition of DESTACO, we are significantly strengthening our industrial business, and underlining our setup as an industrial and automotive supplier. The integration of DESTACO into the Stabilus Group will not only significantly increase Group revenue but will also have a positive impact on our adjusted EBIT margin. Our net leverage ratio will be below two and a half times EBITDA after closing of the transaction, so that the Group will still have sufficient financial flexibility to develop the business in a targeted manner and support our growth."

Stabilus has already completed various value-accretive acquisitions in recent years. In 2016, the Group acquired the industrial suppliers ACE, HAHN Gasfedern, Fabreeka and Tech Products from the SKF Group. This was followed in 2019 by the acquisition of General Aerospace, a supplier of motion control solutions for the aircraft industry, and CLEVERS and Piston, manufacturers of gas springs and dampers based in South America and Turkey, respectively. In 2021, Stabilus took a minority stake in the Italian Cultraro Group, which specializes in small-format motion control solutions, and increased this stake to 60% in July 2023. As part of its digitalization strategy, Stabilus also entered into a strategic partnership in 2021 with a minority stake in the German company Synapticon GmbH, which specializes in compact and integrated motion control electronics.

5,127 characters with spaces

STAR Strategy 2030

Stabilus Group presents future strategy.

Koblenz, July 14, 2022 – The Stabilus Group, headquartered in Koblenz, Germany, is one of the world’s leading suppliers of motion control technologies. With its future strategy STAR 2030, the company defines its further strategic direction. The guiding principle of the strategy, which was developed by the global management team, is the vision of the “global market leader in intelligent motion control technologies”. An overview of the goals established in STAR 2030:

1. Profitable and sustainable growth

Group sales are planned to reach two billion euros at an EBIT margin of 15% by 2030 (2021: EUR 937.7 million). The goal is to achieve continuous growth in all world regions, with particular focus on Asia-Pacific. To fully exploit its expansion potential and increase its resilience to market cycles, the company will continue its transformation to a diversified automotive and industrial supplier. In this context, five expert brands acquired in recent years (ACE, Hahn Gasfedern, General Aerospace, Fabreeka and Tech Products) have been consolidated in the newly formed business unit Industrial.

This also aims at supporting a positive share valuation in the long term and increasing the room for strategic acquisitions, investments, and joint ventures. This external growth is seen as a parallel pillar to the targeted organic growth of 6% per year.

2. Company of choice

The Stabilus management sees continuous improvement in customer and employee satisfaction as an essential lever for achieving market goals, because motivated employees are the key to healthy growth. The goal is an open, dialog-oriented, and appreciative management culture. The Stabilus Group is also subject to external evaluation by means of the Net Promoter Score (NPS). It measures the willingness of customers and employees to recommend a company to others. The target value is a very high score of 50 by 2030.

3. Next level motion control solutions

From 2030, at least 25% of the Stabilus Group’s sales are to be based on new products and solutions. An important pillar for this is the continued innovation of mechanical and electrical components. The company believes there will continue to be high demand for them in all market segments. At the same time, more and more applications are calling for the integration of such components into smart, digitized, and automated overall motion control solutions. To successfully participate in this trend, the company is promoting its already introduced transformation from component supplier to system partner. For this, the company intends to further expand its own solution and software expertise on the one hand, and to build an extensive external network, in the role of the “Motion Ecosystem Manager”, with a large number of strategically important partners on the other hand.

4. Model corporate citizen

As a globally active company, the Stabilus Group is committed to the goals of ecological, economic and social sustainability according to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations. Regarding global climate change, the achievement of reducing the CO2 footprint by 2030 needs to be emphasized. The goal shall be achieved by speeding up the continuation of ongoing projects as well as the realization of new ones at all sites. With these and other initiatives, the company is not only consolidating its ethical commitment, but also its role as a future-oriented partner, supplier and employer.

Stabilus S.A. presents STAR 2025 long-term targets

The STAR process was developed for the first time in the 2011 financial year and initially defined long-term targets up to the 2020 financial year under STAR 2020.

Luxembourg/Koblenz, November 27, 2017 - Stabilus S.A. (ISIN: LU1066226637), a leading global supplier of gas springs, dampers and electromechanical drives, is today presenting its long-term goals "STAR 2025" (STAR: Stabilus Reloaded). The STAR process was first developed in the 2011 financial year and initially defined long-term targets up to the 2020 financial year under STAR 2020. The STAR targets are subdivided into area-specific targets, key figures and projects. The process formed the basis for Stabilus' operational successes in recent years and the successful IPO in May 2014. To date, Stabilus has more than doubled its revenue since the 2011 fiscal year and achieved key STAR 2020 targets ahead of schedule.

With STAR 2025, the kinematics specialist has continued its strategic planning up to fiscal year 2025 and once again set itself ambitious targets. Driven by the vision of becoming the leading company for motion control solutions, Stabilus aims to continue to grow sustainably and profitably. Stabilus CEO Dietmar Siemssen explained: "We want to grow sustainably and develop Stabilus into the leading supplier of motion control systems. Our growth should continue to significantly outperform the market."

The following goals were defined in STAR 2025

1. sustainable growth: Stabilus wants to continue to grow faster than the market in the future and has set itself the target of an average annual growth rate of at least 6 percent. New customer acquisition, product innovations and the further development of new and existing markets should contribute to this. The company also intends to continue examining selected external growth opportunities. Global developments and megatrends, such as demographic change, digitalization and autonomous driving, are the drivers of this ambitious growth.

2. internationalization: Stabilus intends to further expand its global presence in a targeted manner and is focusing on growth in the respective markets. In doing so, Stabilus will remain true to its "In the region for the region" approach, which involves building up regional development and sales expertise locally in the target markets, for example in China, South Korea and Mexico. In the medium to long term, orders from a region should also be largely produced in the respective region.

3. excellence: Stabilus' excellence initiative addresses more than just excellence in production and product quality. The initiative also aims to ensure that every employee constantly strives for excellence in everything they do. Every process and procedure in the company, from employee recruitment to customer contact, is to be continuously improved. For example, the company uses globally established methods in production, such as Kaizen, 5S and 6 Sigma. Through this commitment to quality, Stabilus aims to expand its quality and technology leadership, position itself even more clearly as a partner to its customers and further increase its attractiveness as an employer.

4. innovation: Bringing innovations to market maturity and setting market standards has long been one of Stabilus' strengths. To expand its leading position, the company is investing in an increasing number of development projects. All of them are aimed at shortening innovation cycles, establishing a culture of innovation within the company and continuously filling the innovation pipeline with new products and applications. The company derives its growth potential from global trends such as demographic change, an increasing demand for comfort and rising health and safety standards. Stabilus links these megatrends with other developments such as digitalization, electromobility, autonomous driving and the emergence of mega-cities. Recognizing customer needs, developing solutions together with customers and seizing market opportunities are the basis for strong growth through innovative products and applications.

5 "One Stabilus": Sustainable corporate success is based on the joint efforts of all employees and a corporate culture that promotes innovation and a constant willingness to change. In addition to further organizational and structural integration, a group-wide team spirit and sense of belonging is essential, which Stabilus supports with corresponding values and management guidelines. With these measures, Stabilus aims to achieve a strong identification of employees with the company's goals.

Dietmar Siemssen, CEO of Stabilus, explains: "By the end of the 2017 fiscal year, we had already achieved key STAR 2020 targets such as the revenue threshold of EUR 800 million ahead of schedule. With STAR 2025, we are continuing our plans with the same methodology that has made us successful in recent years. We want to be even closer to our customers and support them with our solutions to secure their market lead. With the targets, key figures and strategic measures derived from STAR 2025, we will continue to expand our technology leadership in our target markets."
