So, I'm over at D & L's, since she's in the hospital. Everything seems to be going well, but they're keeping her on bed-rest until the twins are born. I'm here helping out at the house for the next couple days. Forgot my cell charger, ~~and now my e-mail won't work. Grrr... Yay! I've moved! S and I are in our new place in Silver Spring. We love the new place. I'm not allergic to it, I think. I do have some sort of cold, though... ugh...

Now that we're officially stealing internet from an unsecured wireless router somewhere around here I'm online. Our internet installation got screwed up so now it's going to be installed sometime next week (hopefully). Next week is Free Spirit! Yay. I better be feeling well by then. I reserve sick camping for Pennsic only. Oh well... back to unpacking...

Anyone need over a pound of mulling spices? I've got a case of them from Whole Foods and I feel bad throwing them out. Kerri? Know of anyone who would take them off my hands? I'm getting rid of stuff... probably freecycling some furniture, but I think I'll post it here first to see if anyone wants to grab it up before the strangers take it away. Blah.... that's about how I feel right now. That and my toes are cold.

So, I've got to update about moving and about mixer... um... and this icon rocked my socks, so I had to steal it and use it. Yeah... so there.

Moving: Sean got a job at the Whole Foods regional office in Rockville. Rockville and us are not the closest. I am also allergic to this apartment of doom. We are moving. We need to find a place near or in Rockville that isn't too expensive (less than 1k) and is near public transportation. Please post a response if you can help me find someplace. We need to move at the end of May. We'll need help moving, but I'll make an invite post for that when we figure out where and when. With my back still all fucked up (it's now been over a year) and my dad and step-mom turning 60 that's three people not able to lift things. My dad helped this past summer when we moved here, but that was the last time. I tried to move a few boxes a week or so ago (just to the basement) and ended up in bed with muscle relaxers and vicodin for 3 days. I'm now banned from moving anything heavier than my cat. I think it's mostly the bending and lifting, but oh well...

Mixer: Sylvie posted a few months ago about a Kitchenaid mixer sale on amazon.com. AWESOME! I returned the winter coat I got for my mom (it was really pretty, but I wouldn't use it but once a year) and bought the mixer. I ordered the wrong color. Oops.
Old:

I got the default mat gray color instead of the black that I wanted. :( So, I got the mixer. I was staying at my dad's at the time because of the evil apartment's mold. When I came back to the place of evil I couldn't find my cookie recipe!!! I lost my whole box of recipe cards!! I've got to tear everything apart AGAIN to see if I can find it. So... yummy cookie recipe is gone... Great... but wait! Mom's got the recipe! YAY! I'm saved! I asked her to e-mail it to me. After days of not getting it I called her... left a message... called again.... finally thought I was being punished for something by being denied my cookies. It's the Mrs. Field's cookie recipe! BEST EVAH! So, finally I get through to her two days ago and get it. Yay! But wait, I have no baking powder, and the only baking soda I've got is in the fridge absorbing smells... yuck. So, finally (I like the word finally) Sean gets home from work last night with the extra stuff I need. ... Kitchenaid doesn't turn on... check everything... everything else okay, but it doesn't turn on. Sean tries... it turns on for him. He goes to get something... I try it... it doesn't turn on. Grrr... about to cry. I've been waiting for cookies for SO LONG! We finally put it back in the box. I called the service department today. They don't make that model or color anymore. They're sending me a free upgrade! MORE POWER! SHWEEEET! And I got to choose a new color. YAY! So, in another week I might finally post about eating too many cookies... hopefully.

K, so this is a question for my computer savvy friends out there. What's the best way to back up a CD collection? I want to put all of my CDs on some sort of device, or some sort of server somewhere or something... I don't know. What's the best way to store audio files? Should I put them into itunes or something, then burn them onto MP3 disks for external backup? HELP!

Hmmmm... So, I guess getting Dutch on the Inner European quiz isn't such a bad thing. Not sure what I would have done if I'd gotten something like French. I've had bad experiences with some French. One great thing I got from the French, though, was a Mimi! Mimi rocks!

So, on to my life. It's somewhat boring at the moment. I guess that's because I haven't done much to juice it up. I've been over to Kerri's a couple times in the past few weeks. The thing in her belly was moving so much it freaked me out. I think he was trying to get out, or shake my hand, or punch me in the face... or maybe to moon me... I think he was rolling over or something. I can't wait to see him. His ultrasounds look cute. Anyway... so K helped me out big time by re-lining my coat. It's the winter coat that I've been wearing since high school. I love it. The lining was shredded, but now it'll last another 10 years or so for sure! YAY! THANKS! She also showed me how to make a pattern from something without taking it apart. I'm trying to make another gwazee/gahawazee (however you spell it) coat. I've got this striped upholstery fabric that's really nice, and will be great on cold Pennsic nights. I'm going to head over there this coming weekend to sew it up, with supervision. If I try it on my own I'm sure I'll screw it up somehow. I'll keep her company while she finishes up some sewing of her own. I really should take sewing classes. I love it, but I know so little about it. I feel bad for always having to go to someone else for the littlest things. (thanks for not killing me yet Kerri) Did I mention, I even got to spend a little time watching the munchkin. Such a cutie! I missed Ken, apparently just by a minute, this time. :( (HI KEN!)

I'm also really excited because I'm planning a trip to Chicago with Sean! I'm going to take him to the Wright Plus housewalk in Oak Park. It's amazing. Hmmm... link.....http://www.wrightplus.org/wrightplus/wrightplus.html
yeah.... so neat. We'll get to walk around and go inside some amazing houses. Not only those by Frank Lloyd Wright, but well... yeah, the link says it all. Hmmm.. I've got to figure out how to get plane tickets. I know I shouldn't be spending the money, but this is worth it! Oh, and did I mention that my mom lives over there? Yeah, free lodging and mom time! We can play cards all day long! Yippie!!!

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for the four-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion.

We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why." Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. He said, "People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?" The four-year-old continued, "Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."

Ello again guys. So, after a month of being sick with some sort of cold I realized that it might be more than just a cold. The fact that I'm allergic to mold and the walls in my bedroom leak water from the outside, then crack and mold might have something to do with it, right? Finally I left. That's right, I can't stay in my apartment anymore. I'm staying in a spare room at my Dad's place. Sean is still staying at our place because it's so much closer to work. I'm feeling SO much better, now that it's been days since I left. I'm really sad that I can't stay with Sean and my kitty, Amber. Well, that's it for now... Maybe I'll update again when I get even more bored...

Long overdue

Yes, I know that the time for a post it long overdue. I'm bored, so here it goes...

Mind you, I've got nothing in particular to post about, so this will be one of those rambling posts about nothing specific. Or maybe... well, we'll just see, won't we.

So, um... I'm sure I can find something to write about. How about pants? I've got some. I showed up to the New Year's Eve party at my old place wearing a pair. I left wearing two pair and carrying another. I happened to get a pair of really neat soft snuggly pants from spikywheel and martykp. ROCK! I also apparently didn't want to take of the super shiny pants that I happened to don during a game of "pants pants revolution" so I put my jeans on over them and went home. Now I can't seem to get dreadpiratesb back his pants. So shiny. The party was good, although I was somewhat under the weather from some sort of cold/flu thingy(which, by the way, has still not gone away). So... where was I? Oh, yes, so the party was good. Got to see people, which I've not done in a while. I made some plans with winkishan which I canceled, due to the not-so-sick-but-feeling-like-crap flu/cold thingy. The next weekend I canceled the plans again, but was told about a chocolate party happening the next day. WooHoo!! So, needless to say I wasn't feeling TOO bad that next day. Wink came over and we had sammiches... mmm... sammich. Then we went to a liquor store the size of a Target, then we went to Target, then we went to the chocolate party. YAY! It was good getting out of the house, but I still don't like being around bunches of people I don't know. Finally I found where dracoshen and others were hiding out (upstairs) and I joined them. We played some Fluxx, talked a bunch, and after everything died down we cleaned up as much as we could. I slept on the couch, and then got a ride to Wink's the next day. She didn't show up for the movie night that she planned and invited me to, but Scott, Athena and some other guy did. Before the others showed up Scott and I went to TGIFridays where I got a shrimp in my chicken... EEEEEEEEEeeeewwwwwww!!! I almost puked. It was funny, though.... I started to feel really icky again, with the coughing, throat swelling, headache, dizziness, etc. I took a nap after watching Crank. :)
