How I never dropped a hiatus here is beyond me, but it may have been due to my BIG surprise pregnancy. I found out January 5th after being sick since New Years Eve. I am due in Late August, and we are having ourselves a baby boy. I did not plan to just give up graphics, however because this was a very unplanned event, it sort of tossed a lot of things out the window.

My life is a bit complicated (understatement sort of), but I hope to do some graphic making again soon. Even if it is a little. Hopefully this 6+ month gap in working in PS won't have killed my knowledge in how to make a 100x100 box look horrible.

Hope all of you who still watch are well and are enjoying your 2013 as much as I am! To those who left a few messages for me, so sorry I never got back to you! I feel awful in missing those messages! Again, this is a hiatus, and who knows for how long, but I hope not forever.

I am currently in the middle of making icons, but for the time being I decided to put my name in the 'Best Of...' for 2012 since A) I wanted to see what was liked from this past year and B) Hopefully inspire me to make better icons because what I'm making so far is frustrating. This heat is waging war on me. These took me very little time, but that is because I couldn't stand to be in front of a monitor at all. I have had the worst migraines all week. I could take only a few moments out of the day to do anything. Anyway, the first stock icons were made for stock20in20s ROUND 30. I miss doing stock icons, so hopefully these are good enough to be a decent return to them. The last 10+ icons were made for the Mentor quest over @ THEICONQUEST. I was inspired by krazykate2.

HIATUS

I will be going on a temporary hiatus for a bit as I get ready to journey across the country (for a second time this year) beginning next month. Also, my computer's having issues that is keeping me from creating anything at the moment. Not a big loss, I know, but just letting you all know why it might go fairly quiet here. I'll be back next month with a new batch of icons (seasonably ready for the Autumn that I look forward to each year!)

Feel free to suggest here in a reply with fandoms & subjects that you would love to see me makes icons of. It will help me pick myself back up when it comes time to start creating again!

So this set is...I don't know what I was doing or what I might have been thinking. I don't think I'm capable of working with photoshoots anymore (?) because I seriously struggled. Maybe because I've iconned the hell out of Ms Xtina so much and I can't get creative with pics I've used more than once. So how I did this I will never know, but I pulled out a ton of icons in the last 24 hours for theiconquest Chapter 2 Main. I decided on the hard level, and decided to icon a maker I'm starting to really miss - capelle now that I know they are on hiatus (hopefully not forever, but still, a hiatus is a hiatus.) :( Anyway, I decided on doing colorful icons with a glow to them, which I think was the style I most liked about capelle's icons over @ sexyhandcuffs.

For this attempt I decided to be inspired by capelle. I loved how bright and colorful their icons were, and the use of close crops and centered subjects with negative space. I really tried to make something very different for me, but still keep my style (so use of textures and gradients up the wazoo! These are all for classification Hero, a study in color. My chosen subjects were Firefly, Doctor Who, Disney Princesses (I've never really worked with animated caps before so this was...interesting.), and last is Merlin.

These icons are for Chapter One, Main Quest over @ theiconquest. I've been working on these since the first chapter went up, so that exaplains the randomness of this set and hot the icons look. I spent so much time and put a lot of thought into this set (~~am I weird for doing this?? Yes.~~) and spent a lot of time checking the categories list making sure my icons fit the 'adventure theme'. I chose Prometheus (loved this film!), Spartacus (naturally), and Once Upon A Time (a series I watched in all of three days a few months back. Loved it, can't wait for the Fall!)

These were made for inspired20in20 with the themes heavily in mind. I created these icons using Vibrant, Grunge, Monochrome, Muted, Shapes, Painted, Coloring with light textures, B&W with Color, & Creative Blending. All a bit mixed up, but it was fun (a bit challenging as well). I used editorials and ads from Harpers Bazaar, Vogue, Elle, and W. Electric Light Orchestra's songs were a great inspiration during this set. The Cars, Fleetwood Mac, Boston, and some Lynyrd Skynyrd.

These are all made for 20inspirations last round, "About Me". For some reason I sort of obsessed over getting my 'About Me' inspiration together more than making the icons. LOL! Anyway, hopefully you all enjoy the icons and the inspiration I pulled together. They are a lot more simple than I normally go about doing, but I didn't want to over complicate them. Marie Antoinette- She was very young when her life completely changed. Though I'm not royalty nor did I marry in my teens, I did change as a person very young.
Jessica "Jess" Day- My husband swears up and down that Jess is based on my life. I need to get a T-shirt that says "I was awkward before Zooey made it cool." I wish I wasn't so weird, but I can't help it sometimes. I'm actually scared of my wedding tape because I left a personal message to my husband in it with a weird voice and a few stupid faces.
Veronica Mars- I'm sarcastic, according to my husband, therefore I've chosen my most favorite lovable sarcastic clue-hunter.

ROMANCE
Downton Abbey- The romance in the show can be very messed up at times, but I consider in a very romantic television show.
Spartacus- Such a bloody, gory, porn-y show, but still so romantic. You have a time when men fought for love. Like seriously cut down others to avenge a lost love, or even to find that special person.
Atonement- The love story is one of my favorites. This book was the only book I read in high school. LOL! So good it was one of those books I had to have in paperback & on my Kindle. So nice, I bought it twice. ;) The movie was beautiful (and is often something I icon.)

COLORFUL
I used textures from the set I provided to make bold & full color icons. I used some of my favorite power women (Keira Knightley, Christina Hendricks, Rihanna, & Christina Aguilera).

FASHION
Cecile Bortoletti has some seriously pretty stuff. I love fashion. I loved it so much I went to school for it & have a degree in Product Development. Now when I will use it again (my degree that is), we shall see. I've been a bit of a nomad with my husband for the last couple of years. Priorities change, what can I say?

NOT SURE WHAT I WANT TO DO
As per usual with a set I'm always worried how to start, so I decided to just go to a few of my followers interests and steal subjects. I utilized a lot of the style I like to do when making icons. I'm a fan of simple crops with bright colorings.

For those who haven't seen Spartacus: Vengeance (S3), SPOILERS IN THE EXPLANATIONS. The icons aren't so much of a spoiler.

My set is very backwards, as in, what you might find dark to be evil, is turning more into good, and my evil is turning more light (this is all color & lighting wise). Spartacus: Vengeance was a great season- such a gore filled show, but you can't deny its beauty. The entire series is quite picturesque. This set was made for inspired20in20 and my gosh did it inspire. Thanks to cb_janey & vampire_sessah for the words of encouragement. I've written an explanation for every icon (why? Because I'm insufferable.) Please do enjoy!

01-05
01- Word: Ambitious - Ilithyia, a devious young woman (though, she isn't the freshest fruit on the tree as Seppia proved) is exactly what inspired this icon- she is ambitious in all her deceitful ways. The coloring was going for a dark purple, to push the royal feel, as well as the dangerous shadows to prove just how awfully evil she is.
02- Word: Villain - Glaber, the most evil of all characters. Sure, the mercenaries were vicious, but Glaber has a brain, and he is the evil mastermind we all love to hate. I went for a vintage dark coloring, as I was watching a silent film on TV at the time. Apparently, the most deadly horse movie ever made in the era. (Ben Hur, 1925).
03- Inspiration: appleindecay 1 2 - The dark and painted look so fits this creepy scene from 'Fugitivus'. I wanted to create a painted feeling without taking away anything from the images and the scenery. The blood on the walls, and Lucretia's wild mane made for a good scene.
04- Word: Lost - Ilithyia sort of loses herself when her father dies (murdered by her 'dear' husband). I liked this look on her face for this theme because in a panick she is quite lost. I loved the movement in the picture as well. Damn she pretty.
05- Word: Carnal - I was like two winks of madness away from showing full blown nudity in this icon, but then realized it wouldn't make for NSFW icons, so yeah. I chose a 'tender' moment between the most sexy couple in all of Spartacus.

06-10
06- Inspiration: kasiopeia 3 - Drew a lot of inspiration from kasiopeia's icon from the inspiration set. I loved how dark and malevolent it looked. That coloring was gorgeous and I attempted a sort of Ilithyia portrait of her final (??) days.
07- Inspiration: saxify 4 - Wanted to do a blocking icon originally with these two, but decided to just blend them together. These two want vengeance, and it really is against each other, but for most of the season they work in unison.
08- Word: villain - Ashur is the most evil antagonist for the Gladiators, and in the end, for everyone including himself. His arrogance gets the best of him. "I am a villain, but I am not your villain."
09- Word: Sinner - This icon might be too dark, but maybe that's a good thing. Ilithyia is the sinner of all sinners. She cheats, she murders, she lies- she does everything. I loved this scene of her blindfolded. She's at the mercy of her captive.
10- Inspiration: erzsebet 5 - I wanted to achieve that firey glow, but keep it still dark. Here is Glaber, about to meet his ugly end.

11-15
11- Inspiration: absolutelybatty 6 - Oenomaus is a hero at heart, but he loses himself. He is truly honourable.
12- Word: Reckless - Gannicus is exactly this- reckless. "It is a curse, being blessed with so much to offer." I took a lot of the coloring inspiration from yoli_19 & vetica.
13- Word: Hero - Spartacus is our namesake hero! I chose a nice bloody cap because he is one BAMF (not to mention gorgeous).
14- Word: Light - Naevia's story still makes me shiver. Naevia is pictured running from her fears (barely being plucked from the mines after a brutal trade route.) I wanted to add text to this icon, but I felt like there weren't words to fill it. I chose the natural setting for light as well because in her own darkness, she is still a light to Crixus.
15- Word: Brave - She's a brave woman in a sea of men. She kills like a flying monkey.

16-20
16- Inspiration: justonebeat & vetica 7 8 - Gannicus is a hero, but damn is he a stubborn one. I wanted to utilize this shadow as his half hero & half not-so-there hero self.
17- Word: Gallant - My second blindfold icon. I feel like unlike the other one, there is so much strength behind this moment.
18- Word: Worthy - Mira is a worthy opponent, and she proves herself time and time again, until the very end.
19- Inspiration: Evil & Good - She's out for vengeance for her brother's life taken by the very lover she recently acquired in Glaber. She wasn't so much a likeable character (she was a silly girl trying to play a woman's game), but I do think she had heart. I loved this scene. It was so different for Vengeance- the spin, darkness, sadness. Lovely.
20- Word: Valiant - Naevia's the true definition of valiant. She is a warrior who possesses the courage to face her fears. I chose her features as she decapitated her "prey", and the emotions that followed. She was the true hero she was always meant to be. I chose the colors to get the strength and blood that went into that scene.

This set was entirely inspired by gems. Why? Because I procrastinated by playing Bejeweled on Friday. ;) Also, just a small announcement- I WAS OLIVEJUICE_ICON The name change came after a long time of debating. I finally decided to do it in honor of this year being my 'year of change'. I got married in January, so this community and my new name is inspired & dedicated to my wonderful husband. I know he'll bring inspiration into my life always. ♥ Ok, cheesy moment done.

These were made for garterton20in20's Round 16. Hope you all like, and please, any concrit is welcomed. I used a ton of textures in this set, and worked a lot with coloring (explains the simple crops) under such a tight deadline. Like I said, PROCRASTINATOR right here.

This set was made for Big20in20's Round 12, and wow-crap! did this really push me outside my box. I love textures (as my last sets have shown), but this required me to stay within a set of textures and not go too wild. My chosen set was one created by fuuurs (Grunge Set), and the category set had to be made with another set by the previous person to sign-up. That set was a set created by innocent_lexys (La Vie En Rose). I decided to icon The Finder because it's a show I LOVE and I'm hoping someone picks it up for a second season. There will be at least one more post right after this one that seems sort of pointless to you all looking for lots of icons right now, but I wanted to make sure to share this awesome thing I recently discovered (because I liked under a icon rock for the last two years for the most part). Not looking for nominations (don't get me wrong, not against them, but not panhandling for them):

If you have the time when it all officially starts up, go and participate! After looking at the last awards I discovered a few new icon communities that I am now following. :)

From the lightning in the sky
As it pass'd me flying by - Edgar Allen Poe

This is my very first set for 20inspirations and the theme was so perfect timing for my first time! I instantly knew who I wanted to be inspired by, the illustrator & imagineer Edmund Dulac. I've made my 20 icons for this round and I can honestly say I'm proud of each and every one. I sort of obsessed over them since Saturday (when I started), so I'm glad to be here finally posting them. Included after the set of icons I've got my explanation for each icon (if you aren't interested, of course, that is A-OK!) :D

1- Took inspiration from Daughters of the Stars by Edmund Dulac [IMAGE]. I loved the bright white and blue mixed with the bit of purple.
2- This icon had shadows in mind, which is why I partially included the beautiful Edmund Dulac piece, Alone [IMAGE], an illustration from The Poems of Edgar Allan Poe. The white silhouette is Edmund Dulac's work.
3- The word was sculpted, so I give you some sculpted Sherlock backside. Drew a lot of inspiration from Dulac's color palette as well.
4- I attempted a painted/watercolor style using a crap load of layers, filters, smudging, and what appears to be, a zombie touch. Although this isn't my style, it was F.U.N! Kept with the light sadness of Dulac's colors.
5- I married a helicopter pilot, therefore, when a helicopter is involved that isn't exploding, I'm totally down to icon it. I thought this might look marbled.
6- I used the texture from lookslikerains set of textures titled Up In Arms. I drew a lot of this inspiration from Beauty & The Beast (another book illustrated by Edmund Dulac seen here.)
7- Word: bold- Used a very firery brush texture from firsttimelady, which I felt perfectly fit this scene. What better way to make sparks fly than a little play.
8- Word: smoke- It may be a literal representation of the insiration word, but I thought it fitting. I used a texture created by lookslikerain (Same set as last), as well a light smokey texture created by shalowater.
9- Word: expressionist- The look of this icon was suppose to look like a canvas. Not sure if I did that, but I like how it looks.
10- Word: outline- Took a ton of inspiration from the beautiful pieces by Edmund Dulac, especially Dreamer of Dreams [IMAGE] & Entymologist's Dream [IMAGE].
11- Took a lot of inspiration from this one given by Hannah Höch. Loved the coloring (which I achieved using a fuuurs texture) and the use of collage styling.
12- Edgar Allen Poe in my opinion was an artist with words, which is why I initially was more drawn into doing Edmund Dulac as an inspiration for this set. Dulac created several illustrations for Poe's work, which made Alone sort of an interest of mine. [Alone Image]. [Alone by Poe]. I took words from the poem and used a texture created by fuuurs.
13- Texture by fuuurs (Should I start paying you for all this texture gold?) - Grabbed inspiration from Arabian Nights</b> illustration by Dulac, [IMAGE].
14- Dulac was my overall theme for this icon- his work can at times be very bright and light, but the theme in the drawing would be dark, and sometims menacing. His work in fairy tale illustrations is beautiful. I tried to make it have the sweeping look of a brush. Hopefully I achieved something cool. hehe!
15-Word: circle- The bottom line is Morse Code for Watson (at least to the best of my knowledge) :)
16- Word: expressionist- Attempted a canvas/painted look again, I wanted to do something with an expressionist feel to it, without really going too wild.
17- Inspired by the inspiration [IMAGE] by Derrek Gores, I created this icon with the lovely assistance of lessrest's gorgeous texture. I added the text with the idea of spinning headlines, etc.
18- Word: shadows- "James Moriarty isn't a man at all. He's a spider. Spider at the center of a web. Criminal web with a thousand threads and he knows precisely how each and every single one of them dances." The text seemed fitting as he climbs the stairs in this episode. So chilling! Thanks to innocent_lexys for the textures used in the icon.
19- This icon is entirely inspired by Dulac's piece from 1906 titled Father Time [IMAGE]. I drew inspiration from the quality of the piece and the coloring. I love the bottled essence of life in the piece, so I found that this cap fit a bit perfectly. Hopefully it's not too God awful. LOL!
20- Word: expressionist + Dulac inspiration from Entymologist's Dream [IMAGE]. I seriously could keep iconing my way through the night, but since I've made it to my 20, I shall stop for now. :)
