Chasing The Butterflies is here!
and what a labor of love it was
IT’S HERE!! Chasing the Butterflies is finally here.
My third book is out in the world, and wow, it wasn’t without its trials. It has been… [checks calendar]… far too many months since my last release. For reference, when that book came out, I was very pregnant with my now 19-month-old son. So yes, it’s been a while.
But we made it. Even if it exhausted us. (see photo below)
This story actually started as one I didn’t want to write. I didn’t know where to begin, or even if I should. These characters were never supposed to have their own book. And honestly, who willingly signs up to write about a marriage in crisis? It’s hard. Balancing the weight of that kind of story, making both characters feel real and worthy of love while also giving them believable reasons to struggle, almost put me in a crisis of my own.
This isn’t my usual romcom energy that many of you are used to. There are still light moments, of course, but at its core, this story is full of heart, hurt, and one lingering question: Is love enough?
My view of love might not match everyone else’s, but I believe deeply in the kind of love woven through these pages. The kind that is messy and complicated, but still worth rooting for. The kind that is worth fighting for, as Steven Jones would say.
To those of you who have already read this story, thank you. Truly. I don’t take your time lightly. I know how precious reading time is, and the fact that you chose to spend even a small part of it with my words means more than I can say. And to those who have told me they felt seen in this story, that’s everything.
Stories like this aren’t always the trend. Writing about postpartum, marriage, and the quiet weight of everyday life doesn’t always sparkle the way fantasy or celebrity romance does. And trust me, I love those too. There is nothing better than getting swept up in a little magic or imagining you, too, might bump into Joe Jonas and fall into a whirlwind romance.
But there is another kind of magic in fiction, too. The kind that reminds us we are not alone. The kind that reflects our real lives back to us and says, “You’re not alone.”
That’s what I hope this book gives you.
If you read Chasing the Butterflies, I hope it leaves you holding your people a little closer. I hope it reminds you of the love in your life, the kind that stays even when it is hard. And more than anything, I hope it gives you that warm, steady feeling of being home as you find your way back to Glendale.
