Chumscrubber tutorial
Going from this:
to this:
in PS7.
1. I cropped my base the way I wanted and used Auto Contrast (Alt+Shft+Ctrl+L or Image>>Adjustments>>Auto Contrast):

2. I duplicated my base and set the new layer to screen with opacity 100%:

3. I added a new layer filled with #FCC5D7 and set it to color burn with opacity 66%:

4. I added another layer filled with #D0F8F9 and set it to color burn with opacity 44%:

5. I duplicated my base and dragged it to the top. I desaturated it (Ctrl+Shft+U) and set it to screen with opacity 53%:

6. I added a new layer filled with #022633 and set it to difference with opacity 52%:

7. Using the rectangualar marquee tool, I selected an area that was 29x100px along the left side of my icon. I added a new layer filled with black and set it to color:

8. Next, I made a new layer. Using the 3px round brush, I made a straight white line along the edge of the black layer I made in step 7:

9. I added my text (Cold Coffee, size 8, tracking -75, #FFFFFF) and rotated it 90° clockwise:

10. I went back to my first 2 layers and merged them. I sharpened my new background layer then faded the sharpen to 60%:

And you're done! I'd love to see what you come up with if you use this =)
