Tutorial #10: Garrett Hedlund



*NOTE* This tutorial is based off of THIS tutorial, but was adjusted so that it would work on bases with different coloring.



Step #01

Crop your base. Adjust it if you need to. If your base is too light, open a new 100x100px canvas, filled with #b3c1d0. Paste your base onto it, and set your base to multiply. Flatten the image.


Step #02

Duplicate your base. Using shift+u, put the saturation to +47%. Set this layer to screen.


Step #03

Add a layer filled with #fbf803. Set to soft light, 100%.



Step #04

New selective color layer. Use these settings (you'll have to play with them depending on your picture):

Reds:
-100%
0%
+100%
+100%

Yellows:
-24%
0%
-21%
0%

Magentas:
-100%
-100%
-100%
0%

Neutrals:
+68%
-19%
-80%
0%



Step #05

*NOTE* You may want to skip this step, it depends on your base.
More selective color, with these settings:

Whites:
-22%
+48%
-12%
+71%



Step #06

Even more selective coloring! These are the settings:

Reds:
-75%
+21%
+44%
+33%

Yellows:
-18%
+55%
+32%
+31%

Cyans:
0%
0%
0%
+49%

Blues:
0%
0%
0%
+29%

Magentas:
+71%
-37%
0%
+100%

Neutrals:
+21%

Step #07

Last selective color layer! The settings are:

Cyans:
+45%
0%
0%
+100%

Neutrals:
0%
0%
0%
+15%

Blacks:
0%
0%
0%
+40%



Step #08

New brightness/contrast layer.
Brightness: -4
Contrast: +9



Step #09

New color balance layer with the following settings:
Midtones:
+22
-13
-15

Shadows:
-27
-9
-8



Step #10

Add THIS texture, cropped from a texture by peoplemachines, and set it to multiply.



Step #11

Add whatever brushes, text, etc. that you want, and you're done!
