I've recently downgraded from Photoshop to GIMP and I've been experimenting with coloring because when I used Photoshop, I usually used gradient maps but so far I haven't seen that feature in GIMP. So I'm trying some different things.

I'm also a little bit obsessed with The Hunger Games trilogy and made a wallpaper with two versions of coloring. I would really appreciate any feedback, any areas for improvement. I realized after rendering that the sky is a little grainy so I'm going to fix that later and I'm just focusing on effects and coloring right now so they're textless.

I chose Emily Browning from the movie Sucker Punch to play Katniss in the wallpapers because I got a total rebel warrior vibe while viewing some production stills from the movie. So I did a slight manip by turning her into a brunette and then giving her the Mockingjay pin.

With the coloring, I was trying to capture a firey sort of feel what with the whole "girl on fire" theme in the books.

I'm back, and looking for input on a couple of headers I've made. You've always been so helpful in the past. =D

Yeah. So I've developed this all-encompassing crush on Brit actor Matthew Goode, and he's re-energized my desire to 'Shop. :flails:

IDEK. I was feeling ecclectic or something, and liked the idea of using a bunch of different things. Is it too scattered?

I made this one for a friend of mine. She wanted two images in the same header, and it was hard to blend them in a way that I was really pleased with. This was the closest I got. What do you think? Interesting? Creepy?

Uh... I normally finish icons quite quickly and am satisfied with the result... For some reason, this icon lacks... something. And I spent nearly half an hour failing with it, lamo. Am I doing something wrong? Too dark? Blurry? Words too large?

I could really do with some opinions... Maybe it's the cropping. Bluerg icon making can sometimes be annoying. =/

ok so i hope i can post this here if not any links to the right comms are welcomed.

I've started an elephant and apart from tidying up and a background something else is missing, i just cant seem to see what exactly, hopefully some one here can.

Made using: cs3, wacome tablet, I used a cineworld magazine as my reference image, comet brushes from photoshop creative magazine #39.

My Icon Making Trouble

Hello,

As a note, I have been using dtissagirl guide to Aspect Ratios for dummies. However, I am still having problems, just with cropping. As a note, I use Adobe Photoshop 4.0 I would love to know how to make my cropping better. I just seem to keep missing it up and again. Text is often a problem for me.

I just finished this userinfo banner with Peter and Claire on my mind.

Anyways, I really like the outcome, but the text/font seems a little blah to me. Any suggestions for a different font or techniques to get the text a little cleaner looking? Lyrics are from the Rent soundtrack, because I'm in mourning over here.

I created an Icon Stillness community and I just finished the header. I think I did a pretty good job with getting it to match the layout, but the blending I'm very meh about. Anyone have any suggestions and feedback?
