I know this comm's been quiet for months, but I just came up with this and couldn't resist. I got sick of the wing-colour argument; the book does say angel and demon wings are the same, but it never says either sides' have to be any specific colour. Also, reference to the Cthulhu Mythos Hastur (a.k.a. The King in Yellow) because I will never get tired of that. X-posted to lower_tadfield.

Demon wings are the same as angel wings. But no two sets of wings on either side are exactly the same.

Beelzebub and Metatron bore flames instead of feathers, red and gold.

Azrael’s were wing-shaped holes in space, star-sprinkled.

Hastur, since the incident at Arkham, had become famous among demonologists for his wings; brimstone yellow. Ligur’s were shadowy grey. Vague memories of gold and silver wings occasionally nagged at Crowley.

As he sat beside Aziraphale, the angel’s white wings brushed against Crowley’s black. One like pearl, the other like an oil slick. Both shone with rainbows, in the right light.

Thunderclouds gathered over the field, as if at the drawing of a furrowed brow. The first fat drops began to fall, raising small clouds of dust where they hit the sun-baked ground and mingling with the red stain of blood, making it glisten.

Heedless of the rain, Aziraphale stood unseen in the centre of the field, eyes fixed on the place Cain had disappeared back into the trees. "How could you?" he murmured.

"Don't look at me," came an indignant hiss from the stubble near his feet. "I fear they're going to be rather more inventive than we ever expected."

Lady Macbeth sleeps soundly after the thing is done; kings, to her thinking, make better bedmates than thanes, even kings with damp kilts and delusions of cutlery.

And the stench of another man's blood on his arms follows her into her dreaming.

There, she meets a woman, whose breath, dreamed, is warm with waking blood's tang. Breath like a sword held under the nostrils, against the skin.

The woman says: "Hey there, tiger. You just hit the jackpot," and smiles bright as firelight on glass.

"Majesty," she adds, kissing Lady Macbeth's white hand.

(Her mouth, dry and unpainted, leaves a mark.)

For the prompt 'resurrection'. None of the funny bits belong to me.

It was a bright and tastelessly pink dawn.

This was pure luck. For every deity who gets a rosy-fingered sunrise when his Son unstiffens on the slab, dozens rot under thunderheads while the Yggdrasil clocks up symbolic-number-of-days-spent-carrying-a-corpse.

Still, the two glowing figures in the graveyard derived some satisfaction from it.

Satisfaction, tempered by impatience.

"Where is he?"

"Aziraphale's always late."

A meaningful pause.

"It doesn't matter, anyway."

"Oh?"

"New orders," explained the other, pointing at the Words written on the sky, which read as follows:

THIS IS MY SON, WITH WHOM I AM NOT TOO ANNOYED.

LET 'IM SLEEP IN.

I'm not sure how many people will see this entry, as it has been a very, very long time since any activity has taken place. I sincerely apologise for my part in neglecting this community. In between moving to another country, getting married, and settling into a new culture, this community was lost along the way.

But today, I decided it was time to resurrect go100.

I would like some opinions/suggestions for breathing new life into our little community again. I was thinking about just nixing the teams/points thing and just posting a weekly theme for everyone to try out... But I'm not so sure... Ideas?

Anyway, I hope this entry is seen by a good majority of our members and word gets around. As soon as a decision about the future of the teams/points has been made, I will post a theme/challenge.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

I look forward to seeing some wonderful drabbles. :)

As the torment dragged on the angel’s mental state continued to deteriorate.

“It’s dreadful, dear boy, just dreadful,” he muttered, as the torturously slow minutes ticked by. “I feel almost as though I’m standing on the edge of a terrible abyss.”

The demon, gave him a sympathetic pat on the shoulder. If he could have spared his angelic friend from this cruel, unusual and seemingly never-ending deprivation he would have done.

“I must be strong though. I must endure.”

Crowley shook his head and gave a sigh. “Aziraphale, why on earth did you decide to give up tea for lent?”

And he was sure Famine had been involved in that 1666 fiasco. Smug, cheating bastard.

“Ere, why aren’t you laughing?” he demanded, at once feeling more than a tad self-conscious.

“You said ‘A man walks into a bar’ and then backhanded Dagon,” said Belphegor, brow furrowed. “Why would we laugh?”

“It’s a joke, isn’t it?”

The crowd tittered as realisation dawned.

Belphegor gave a simpering smirk. “I fear that your Disgrace has misunderstood the concept of ‘the punchline’.”

She sighed. “I already told you, Mr. Shadwell. You don’t stand a very good chance of successfully suing Sainsbury's just because you broke your ‘demon banishing finger’ on a trolley.”
