As the central international office for the University of Minnesota system, the Global Programs and Strategy Alliance drives the University’s global strategy and connects faculty, staff, and students with the resources and expertise needed for personal and professional success.

Led by the Vice Provost's Office, the GPS Alliance includes a variety of units that facilitate the University's global learning, teaching, research, and engagement.

UMN–SNU Research Partnership Seed Grants

The GPS Alliance and the Research and Innovation Office have launched a new seed grant to support collaborative research between the University of Minnesota and Seoul National University. The initial funding round will provide grants of up to $40,000 in areas related to AI and data science, water and energy, advanced materials and manufacturing, and biotechnology, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration. Vice Provost for International Affairs Search

The University has launched a national search for an experienced, creative, collaborative, and entrepreneurial leader to serve as its next Vice Provost for International Affairs (VPIA). Three finalist candidates visited campus and presented at public forums in early March. More information about the search is available on the VPIA Search.

Immigration Resources and Support

University personnel and resources are in place to support students, faculty, and staff who may be affected by federal immigration policy changes. The GPS Alliance is providing information and resources—including guidance on international travel—to help navigate these changes.
