this goddamned story that ate my life for longer than I care to admit has finally been posted at my fic journal: If This Isn't A Kingdom, XMFC, Charles/Erik. as it says in the notes, the title is from Richard Siken's Snow and Dirty Rain, which I found after the fact (it's been "untitled slow-dancing whatever" until now) and is amazingly, amazingly perfect.
