Disable 2FA on GitLab.com

When logging into the gitlab.com Web UI account verification via email is requested. I closed my GitHub account and migrated to GitLab specifically to avoid 2FA. Can this be disabled for gitlab.com or would you recommend switching to another source code repository provider?
