Summary of Changes

Hello @KaruroChori, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request enhances the Android application packaging process by introducing a crucial validation step during the signing phase. It ensures that users are immediately notified if a required keystore is absent, preventing silent failures and providing actionable guidance for resolution. This change directly addresses a part of issue #7347, improving the developer experience by making the build process more robust and user-friendly.

Highlights

  • Improved Android Signing Error Handling: A check was added to ensure that a keystore is provided before attempting to sign an Android application package (APK). If the keystore is missing, a clear error message is now raised, guiding the user to generate one using keytool.

🧠 New Feature in Public Preview: You can now enable Memory to help Gemini Code Assist learn from your team's feedback. This makes future code reviews more consistent and personalized to your project's style. Click here to enable Memory in your admin console.

Changelog
  • xmake/rules/platform/android/package.lua
    • Added a nil check for the keystore parameter in the _sign_apk function.
    • Implemented an error raise with a descriptive message if the keystore is missing during Android APK signing.

Code Review

This pull request adds a helpful check to ensure a keystore is provided before attempting to sign an Android app, preventing a cryptic error from apksigner. I've suggested a small improvement to also check for the keystore password to prevent a script crash when it's missing.
