Last few weeks, I was looking for an alternative fork which is maintained (at least bug fixes), I ended up forking the project and working on a couple of issues on my own.

If you are interested in creating fork project together it would be wonderful.

There are already at least two forks (PyPDF3 and PyPDF4), neither of which seems to be maintained. I am afraid we would just end up creating PyPDF5 with the same fate, as I don't think I'd be able to dedicate the time it would need. (You can see it from my reaction time.)

I suggest you have a look at pikepdf, though. I'd probably switch to it myself if I wasn't sort of stuck with PyPDF2 for historical reasons. (At some point I probably will, anyway.)
