book/README.md grew a mermaid diagram in f0b928f, but neither workflow installed the mdbook-mermaid preprocessor that book.toml now requires. Pull the prebuilt v0.17.0 linux-gnu binary and put it on PATH before running mdbook build.
mdbook-mermaid v0.17.0 (added in the prior commit) switched to mdbook-preprocessor 0.5.0, whose RenderContext schema is only emitted by mdbook 0.5.x. The pinned 0.4.40 produced 'Unable to parse the input' from mermaid. site.yml already uses mdbook 'latest' (0.5.x) and passes; aligning the docs-build pin to 0.5.2 fixes the docs-build failure while keeping the version explicit.
