Not locking disk images causes QEMU error #7527

Description

@mardunba-dev

Describe the issue
Changing UTM configuration settings "File > QEMU Backend > Lock drive images when in use" to unchecked causes QEMU error:

QEMU error: QEMU exited from an error: qemu-aarch64-softmmu: -drive if=none,media=cdrom,id=drive3868910F-ADB7-44C2-8A78-76ABB4EFE49E,readonly=on,file.locking=off: Must specify either driver or file

Workaround is to remove the virtual USB attached CDROM drive from the VM. After that, the VM will boot without the error.

Configuration

  • UTM Version: Version 4.7.4 (115)
  • macOS Version: 15.7.3 (24G419)
  • Mac Chip (Intel, M1, ...): M4
