4.7.4 crashes instantly on vm startup, macos 26 #7408

Description

@StrangeNoises

Describe the issue
Installed 4.6.5 via Homebrew a few days ago, on the macOS 26 RC. It seemed to work generally fine; first VM set up on it was abandoned (Needed better graphics than Apple Virtualisation can do). New Debian Testing VM set up on it yesterday using QEMU virtualisation, all seemed fine.

Today Homebrew offered the upgrade to 4.7.4. After upgrading, when trying to launch the VM created yesterday, the UTM app crashes instantly after opening the VM's window.

The bios doesn't appear. It certainly doesn't get as far as the Grub bootloader. It just appears with the blurry background, then the app quits silently. No errors reported to UI, App's just gone.

Configuration

  • UTM Version: 4.7.4 (114)
  • macOS Version: Tahoe 26.0 (25A353)
  • Mac Chip (Intel, M1, ...): M2 Max (Mac Studio 32GB)

Crash log
In a .zip because the .ips can't be uploaded directly...

Debug log

Note, debug log and crash log are of the same incident, repeated just now. I have several other crash logs, it's reliably repeatable for me.

Upload VM
The VM isn't even starting as far as its loading screen, so I don't think it can be something inside it, but maybe the qemu settings... (which were basically default when I created it on the earlier version) I'm new to UTM (seeking refuge from VMWare Fusion) so I haven't changed anything from the defaults I don't understand yet, just things like cores and memory. Certainly nothing in QEMU or QEMU/Arguments sections of vm settings.

Again in a zip because .plist can't be uploaded here directly.
