smisco in the forums suggests that users should be given the option of setting a proxy during install/firstboot so that those behind a corporate firewall can take advantage of the security updates install on first boot.

Currently users that need to configure a proxy to get internet access need to skip updates, configure their proxy manually then manually run updates (or wait until they auto run).
