Summary

Before I worked on batch verification for ed25519 and there were other performance improvements for ed25519. Ideally we can get those into 0.37 since they are low lift and isolated.

Problem Definition

While not large in the below snapshot on chains that have less activity signature verification stands out a bit more.

(Yes, most of the issue is in the sdk)

Proposal

Upstream performance improvements of ed25519 to main:

• crypto: Use a different library for ed25519/sr25519 #6526
• crypto: ed25519 & sr25519 batch verification #6120
