The lighter / checkerboard background can sometimes make it a little hard to see anything depending on the image. In some cases you may even have an image where the alpha fallback is expected to just result in a black or white background.

It would be nice to be able to change the background here to something else. In my case I just wanted it black, but it would be maybe helpful to be able to set it to any colour.
