Zotexmacs is a very simple tool that eases referencing articles in TeXmacs when your bibliographic database is handled by Zotero.
With Zotexmacs you no longer have to know, guess, or look up what is the citation key of the articles you want to cite. From within a Zotero window, Zotexmacs directly inserts the appropriate cite tag for the selected items into the currently active TeXmacs document.
Zotexmacs works on any OS. You'll need both Texmacs and Zotero already installed.
Zotexmacs 0.5 works with Zotero ⩾ 5.0.
The latest version of this plugin works with TeXmacs svn revisions >= 15270 (Feb. 2026). If you currently use an older version of TeXmacs, you must use this earlier version of the plugin
Install the released "zotexmacs-XX.xpi" file in Zotero standalone and (merge-)copy the plugin folder in your $TEXMACS_HOME_PATH (your user's Texmacs settings folder whose exact location depends on your OS - see "More doc"). After restarting both Zotero and TeXmacs (and doing Tool→Update→Plugins), Zotexmacs should work.
Open "zotexmacs doc.tm" in TeXmacs.
