This is an attempt to fix the crash in https://github.com/shadow/benchmark/actions/runs/4539174939/jobs/7998792824. I wasn't able to reproduce it, but I'm fairly certain this will fix it.

I added some testing for unregistration but wasn't able to reproduce the crash.
This should fix it, though.
