Hi @linus-md as always thanks for your PRs and sorry for not giving feedback on this one before. Unfortunately the current implementation of dropdowns breaks the sphinx cross-reference system whenever they point inside a dropdown from the outside. The underlying issue is that the dropdown has to be unfolded for mozilla to access the reference.

In this case you will have to revert all of the references you are hiding in a dropdown (again, sorry about that). You can still use dropdowns to hide:

• the Split finding with categorical features paragraph in Categorical Features Support.
• You can hide the contents of 1.11.1.2. GradientBoostingClassifier and GradientBoostingRegressor into two dropdowns, one for regression and one for classification. The image can go inside the dropdown but not the example list.
• Similarly, the Mathematical formulation can be hidden into two separate dropdowns, one for regression and one for classification.
• Same applies to the Loss Functions.
• Move 1.11.4.4. Using the VotingClassifier with GridSearchCV as a dropdown inside 1.11.4.5. Usage.
