Over at @napari we are attempting to auto-type scikit-image functions with Python 3.6-style typing annotations (see napari/napari#1).

Since the library has dropped support for Python 2, I think that this would be an excellent opportunity to streamline the typing/documentation of many scikit-image functions.

We will of course provide the source code to automatically annotate everything the first time around, upon which contributors can then manually type new functions/feature changes.
