It is correct that ZeroTier paid for this feature to be implemented, and not only that but financially it's one of the bigger community contributions, going by information in the recent Changelog interview.

If I remember correctly, DNSimple's providing free DNS services was explicitly conditional on them getting donor info put in the README. My guess is that DNSimple's marginal costs are a lot less than the combined previous profits they made when @mglukhovsky was paying for DNS.

I think it is appropriate that this be merged -- if there's a "Donors" section then donors should get put into it. Since I was the one getting paid I think it'd be gauche for me to merge this, because, you know, who am I to sell indulgences on behalf of the Church. You've got my stamp of approval on this PR, and if somebody else with merge power agrees, please merge.

For what it's worth, as someone who's not getting paid, I think this should be merged as well 🙂
