At work, we use the following (common) flow:
- dev branches
- work is done
- pull request
- review
- release to prod from PR branch
- confirm release is good
- create release at GitHub
- merge in PR branch
Lowest-hanging fruit:
The "Releases" tab on other pages is excellent -- and it would really help if it could be present on Pull Request pages, so I could middle-click, see the current version, draft release, etc. This would already save me quite a bit of effort.
Ultimate feature:
A button on the PR page which:
- queries for current release versions
- navigates to the "draft release" page with the version populated as a minor increment (user can still edit, so it's just a hint)
- populates the release title and text from the PR
- populates the release target from the PR branch
I'm not even sure how much of the above is possible, but it would be a super-power-util that we'd use at least once a day, up to perhaps 4 times a day, every day. I'm sure others would find it useful too (:
