I have something in mind, checked out native-base's theming flow but I found it a bit complicated and time-consuming.

Here is my thoughts;

I think current theme of base components ( which is basically style objects ) could be exported as default theme, like /themes/default.js
Importing the base components should be done via theming gateway that wraps components to pass theme via props.
So every base component should have support to consume different theme.
Devs should create a copy of default.js and have party on them.
Devs should specify theme source in one of initial views. Can be done with static methods.
Theming gateway merges the user theme and default theme to style base components. This step could be done once and save the ultimate theme somewhere but file system. AsyncStorage maybe.

But in the end everybody wants a zero-conf UI framework by default.

Cons

Every base component will need a rework to update how consume styles. ( 3 )
Theming gateway should be performant but every import will go through an IO to read theme file, dont know if it will be a problem tough.
