Apache Kafka powers real-time applications at massive scale — but when it fails, diagnosing and detecting the issue often requires deep infrastructure knowledge.
Your task is to reproduce a critical Kafka issue and write a rule that can detect it in real environments. This bounty is focused on one Kafka failure mode. You may submit multiple bounties for different failure types.
To complete this bounty, you must:
- Reproduce the Issue
- Provide a minimal, working example.
- Provide a Detection Rule
A reliable detection rule, following the CRE format, that can be used by preq to flag affected applications.
Deliverables
- Reproducible test setup (helm charts, README, shell script, or equivalent).
- Test data in a test.log file
- A link to a working CRE in the (CRE playground)[https://play.prequel.dev]
