The dependency changes LGTM, but the mechanism seems problematic:
The google.golang.org/protobuf update happened only in c/common, not in c/image — and #291 proposes to enforce consistency with go work sync.
Discussed more in #291 , do not merge until the situation is understood / resolved there — this is a good test case.
