I noticed this when testing #5152

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open Voice Settings
2. Ensure ESpeak is the synthesizer and change the voice to Tamil
3. Go to the Punctuation/symbol pronunciation dialog. (NVDA+N, P, P)
4. Press down arrow to the symbol ":"
5. Notice that NVDA freezes and must be restarted to continue.

Expected behavior:

NVDA should read the line without freezing.

Actual behavior:

NVDA freezes and a restart of NVDA is required to continue.

System configuration:

NVDA version: Master-14590,5efe71c8
NVDA Installed or portable: Installed
Windows version: Windows 10,1703

Other questions:

Does the issue still occur after restarting your PC? Yes
Have you tried any other versions of NVDA? Yes
next-14601,e62a168e, same issue
2017.3 portable, no issue

Speaking [u'\u0bb3\u0bcd\r\n']
