It appears that NVDA won't read read-only content such as Labels in Flash; interaction with the application is limited to forms, which can be accessed using the tab key.
For example, if I have created an AIR 2 application using Flex and have included one Label and one TextArea, NVDA will never read the contents of the Label, but will read the contents of the TextArea when I give it focus. In JAWS, I would consider this using forms mode, and never switching to "virtual PC cursor" mode.
