When I add a word to speech dictionaries there should be a check box for stand-alone words. For example the word "chat" and the German word "Schatz" (darling). We speak "chat" with English pronunciation, but this is not good at the word "Schatz". In "Schatz" is the word "chat", but we don't speak it like "chat".
