In OpenOffice Writer 4.1.0, NVDA announces "blank" and "the current page number" when symbols such as dot, quote, and slash are encountered while navigating by word through a document using Control+right arrow.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Launch OpenOffice Writer and copy/paste the first sentence of this description into a new document.
  2. navigate by word using CTRL+right arrow, starting at the beginning of the document.

    Actual results

  • NVDA announces "blank" when the text cursor lands to the left of a punctuation symbol.
  • NVDA announces the current page number when the text cursor lands to the right of a punctuation symbol.
  • When the text cursor lands within a group of numbers separated by decimal points, neither of the previous two behaviors seem to occur. Instead, NVDA continues repeating each digit until the text cursor moves past the last digit in the group.

    Expected results

  • NVDA should either ignore punctuation symbols while navigating by word, or speak them, since the text cursor lands on them.

'''NOTE:''' I am using NVDA version 2014.2 with the Vocalizer Expressive synthesizer driver version 3.0.9.
