Screen curtain not set correctly after login #18693

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Set screen curtain to disabled;
  2. save config;
  3. copy config to login profile;
  4. re-enable screen curtain permanently;
  5. save config;
  6. reboot the PC.

Actual behavior:

After login, screen curtain remains disabled.

Expected behavior:

Screen curtain should be enabled according to config.

System configuration

NVDA installed/portable/running from source:

Installed.

NVDA version:

2025.2.

Windows version:

Windows 10 22H2 (build SO 19045.6216)

Does the issue still occur after restarting your computer?

Yes.

Have you tried any other versions of NVDA? If so, please report their behaviors.

2025.1 works well.

If NVDA add-ons are disabled, is your problem still occurring?

Not tested, but no add-ons in login profile apart the synthesizer.

Does the issue still occur after you run the COM Registration Fixing Tool in NVDA's tools menu?

Yes.
