[Towards a FileMaker IDE]
fmAutoMate provides 3 extremely powerful extensions to your FileMaker Development Environment:
- fmAutoMate Context Menu - a Script Workspace extension full of amazingly powerful features
- fmAutoMate HotKeys - put the power of the fmAutoMate functions at the tips of your fingers
- fmAutoMate Services - bring fmAutoMate power (in the form of macOS Services) to the calculation editor and text editing
-
First, you'll need to install fmAutoMate's dependencies, if you don't already have them:
- Download and Install FileMaker Pro (Note: Claris Pro is not quite under test yet)
- Download and Install MBS Plugin for FileMaker (You can get an MBS Trial Licence or test the Plugin for a limited time as per licence agreement)
- Download and Install BaseElements Plugin (not strictly needed for core fmAutoMate functionality, but used in MrWatson's various tools)
-
Optional: To leverage the full power of fmAutoMate download and Install MrWatson's related tools:
- Download and install the latest release of fmWorkMate - a toolbox of power tools for FileMaker developers
- Download and install the latest release of the fmCheckMate XSLT Library - a library of functions for analysing, changing and transforming your code
- Download and install the latest release of fmIDE - A FileMaker Integrated Development Environment for all your FileMaker files!
-
Then Download and Install fmAutoMate itself:
- Download the latest release of fmAutoMate
- Move the fmAutoMate folder to your Applications folder
- (So, if you also have fmWorkMate, it's alongside your fmWorkMate folder)
- Open fmAutoMate in FileMaker
- To install fmAutoMate Services
- Press the [Install fmAutoMate Services] button
- This copies the fmAutoMate Services files into your user's Library > Services folder
- Press the [Install fmAutoMate Services] button
- To install fmAutoMate Context Menu and HotKeys
- Press the [fmAutoMate] button
- This installs the context menus and HotKeys and closes the file so you are ready to start
- Press the [fmAutoMate] button
Once you have downloaded and installed fmAutoMate you might want to try out the ideas on the How to page.
