Add three NIRSport (v1) recordings for MNE PR adding NIRSport support:

  • One recording without any saturation
  • One recording with a subset of channels occasionally saturated
  • One recording with a subset of channels saturated during the whole run

File Generation

  1. Open NIRSite 2020.7.

  2. Select Adult, ICBM 152 atlas.

  3. Add sources at AF4, AF8, F8, AF3, F7, AF7, in that order.

  4. Add detectors at F5, F9, Fp1, AFz, F6, Fp2, in that order.

Maintain shift and left click on a location once to add a source, twice to add a detector, or maintain shift and right click to remove a source or detector.

The screen should looks like:
NIRSite_probe_setup

  1. Save and select option to target the NIRStar application. Check all boxes.

  2. Close NIRSite and open NIRStar 15.3.

  3. Go to Configure Hardware -> Montage -> and select the montage saved above.

  4. Leave other options as standard. Just in case here are screen shots of all other tabs.
    Channels
    TPL
    channel_masking

  5. Exit hardware setup and click Calibrate.
    calib_occasional_saturation

  6. Depending on the recording you wish to reproduce, follow step a, b or c:
    a. Recording without any saturation: Record approximately 15s of data. Send through trigger 1 around 5s, then trigger 2 around 10s.
    b. Recording with a subset of channels occasionally saturated: Record approximately 15s of data. Send through trigger 1 around 5s, then trigger 2 around 10s. Pull firmly on detector n°2 for approximately 2s around 5s, then again around 10s.
    c. Recording with a subset of channels saturated during the whole run: Record approximately 15s of data. Send through trigger 1 around 5s, then trigger 2 around 10s. Pull firmly on detector n°2 during the whole recording.

  7. Save.

This recording does not have any saturation.
Some channels of this recording saturate on two occasions (around 5s and 10s).
Some channels of this recording saturate during the entire run.

This is brilliant, thanks @rderollepot.

And as an added bonus it has fancy dates, so we can use this to test mne-tools/mne-python#8219
