unittest in subdir, error "Unknown node id: <tests directory>" #17280

With the update to v2021.9.1191016588 I am no longer seeing unittests in a subdirectory in the testing sidebar. At the end of Output > Python the error
Error 2021-09-04 12:36:36: Unknown node id: /Users/rob/sync/proj/pysample/Tests
is shown, the last field being the tests subdirectory. From working with the issue in my main project I can see that files in Tests are processed as warnings are generated for test_ files that need supporting software installed.
I have ceated a small sample project that demonstrates the issue in my hands.
