Only prompt to install Git when opening a Git project #56015
Description
If you do a fresh install of Code on a new computer and Git is not installed, you are overwhelmed with several notifications/messages. This is not a great onboarding experience for new users as it assumes that I will be using Git.
Repro
- Install VS Code on a machine without Git
- Run VS Code
Result
- Notification banner appears informing you Git is not installed
- Output panel is opened and informs you of the same message
Expected
- Only show these banner when I open a Git project
