IME input is missing after #4747 #4780

@leonMSFT

Description

@leonMSFT

Steps to reproduce

Try to type an IME sequence of characters, for example, 你是我的

Expected behavior

你是我的 should show up on the screen.

Actual behavior

Only 你我 shows up on the screen. This repros for both Japanese and Korean IME as well (those are the only two others that I've tested).

Looks like every other character doesn't show up.
