There have been ongoing requests for reportGeneralTypeIssues to be broken into more granular categories. I've been resistant to doing up to this point, but I think it's time to reconsider. Picking the right granularity and names is going to be important.

At the same time, it might be worth splitting reportUnboundVariable as suggested in this enhancement request.
