Description of the problem or steps to reproduce

When the cursor is placed within a paragraph it's not possible to move up and down between the lines within the same paragraph. For large paragraphs it quickly becomes tedious having to "jump" word-by-word until you reach the place you want to edit.

Is this by design and if so is it possible to add this behavior?
