It should be backwards compatible but I did have to make some changes and my sample set is not that big.
Please add an issue if there is any problems.

I, the author of this rewrite, have been using the beta in production for a few months now without any issues.
Changes from beta:
parseEmailToField now accepts selectors. It was supposed to accept them from the getgo, but I forgot to implement it.
