I use Github as a way to share public copies of my repos. My repos are primarily hosted on my own git servers, using FOKS and Keybase for cloud-hosted repos, Gitea on machines at home, and Gitolite (only accessible via SSH) on a public VPS. Most of my repos are hosted on more than one of these servers, with multiple push URLs on the origin remote, so that git push updates all of the servers.
