Autotype works as expected when the database is unlocked. However, when the database is locked nothing happens when pressing the autotype hotkey. No unlock dialog nor error message is shown.

I am on Mac OS X El Capitan with KeePassXC 2.1.4.

Although several issues concerning autotype when the database is locked have recently been fixed (#10, #89) autotype doesn't seem to work as expected on Mac for me.
