With this minimal config:

[tools]
black = { version = "latest", postinstall = "mise run my-postinstall-task" }

[tasks.my-postinstall-task]
run = "which black"

We get this output:

Here's the workaround I'm using:

black = { version = "latest", postinstall = "env -u MISE_TOOL_VERSION mise run my-postinstall-task" }

[tasks.my-postinstall-task]
run = "which black"

which doesn't emit the warning:

[my-postinstall-task] $ which black
black@26.1.0                 /home/aron/.local/share/mise/installs/black/26.1.0/black                                                                                                      ✔

Tested this morning, this probably still exists in 2026.2.6

I'm also seeing this on 2026.3.9 (and also confirmed the suggested workaround with env -u MISE_TOOL_VERSION still works)

My mise.toml:
