We are building docs on Ubuntu 20.04 - we could try update this job to Ubuntu 22.04 to see if there are newer versions of those packages available. Sphinx 7.2.6 was released on Sep'23, so it is pretty recent version.

Looking at the list of GH runners pre-installed software for Ubuntu 20.04 and Ubuntu 22.04, I can't find anything meaningful about Sphinx.

Ubuntu packages website says that the following versions are pre-installed (or available? or is it minimal guaranteed available version?) on various Ubuntu versions:

As you can see, 7.2.6 is only listed in what will be (or already is?) Ubuntu 24.04. However, since GH Action logs shows a huge number of available versions even for 20.04, my hypothesis is that uplifting our docs runner to 22.04 may be just enough.

Alternatively, we can revert this versions bump: it doesn't seem like any of those newer versions contained fixes for CVEs, but it rather seems that this is just an update for the sake of update.
