What Went Wrong?
When we fetch metadata from Hardcover, we get the series total book count, instead of the primary count.
Primary count only includes the main volumes (no halves/decimal positions).
Take for example "The Sins of Our Fathers". Hardcover shows this as book 9.5 of 9. When fetching the metadata, it would show 9.5 of 20, even though this is the "last" book of the series.
How Can We Reproduce This?
- Go to metadata fetch
- Search by ISBN 9780316669078
What Should Have Happened?
I believe it's better to display the primary book count, as this gives us a better representation of where the books are within the series, instead of the total number of books.
