Currently, the GUI only opens if the user closed the window.

Sometimes I have some many windows open that it's hard to keep track of what is minimized and what is fully closed. It is frustrating to click on Open and to see nothing happening just because it's minimized rather than closed.

New behavior
Refocus the window if minimized, possibly even if it's just lost focus another way.
