Notes

The NavePoint Cabinet is nice enough. It has removable panels on the top and bottom for cables, it can be wall mounted, the sides can be removed easily, the door can be flipped to open either way, and it allows for a lot of airflow. I comes with one 1U blanking panel and two shelves. It also has a few rough edges: the side panels rattle like hell, the door doesn't sit straight, and the grounding bolt on the bottom is welded in which limits what you can put on the bottom. To fix the panel rattle, I added some foam strips to the side, which works very well. The location of the grounding bolt thankfully gives just enough space to fit the UPS at a slight angle.

The 200mm fan almost fit perfectly. The holes are the right diameter, and the columns in the grid pattern are the right distance apart. Unfortunately, the rows are not, so I was able to use the existing holes for the top two mounting points, but had to turn some holes into slots to make the bottom two fit. There is a little pressure on the DAC cables and the RJ45 cables plugged into the 10G switch when closing the front, but nothing to worry about.

I already had the 200mm fan, so I used that, but two stacked 140mm fans would fit perfectly. It's a bit too small for two 180mm fans.

The GigaPlus switch is VERY tight. I got some cheap rack ears and drilled and filed the slots out to fit it to the uprights, and I still had to flex the uprights out to let the rack ear mounting screws fit past them. Thankfully it was the first thing I added to the rack. Otherwise, I would have needed to undo everything else to get it to fit.

I got the 9U rack to give me some future expandability. I think I'll likely add a small backup NAS in there, but not any time soon.
