Describe the bug
Widgets are suddenly missing (removed) from the home screen after updating to v0.17.0.
Reported in #930.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. With v0.16.15 or earlier, add widgets to the home screen
2. Update the app to v0.17.0
3. Observe that widgets that were previously added are now missing

Expected behavior
Widgets should be retained between app upgrades.
